I’m so glad you’re here.
Finding a therapist can feel surprisingly vulnerable. You’re choosing someone to let into the tender places of your life, and it can be difficult to know from a website who will truly understand you, make you feel safe, and sit with the parts of your story that are hard to put into words.
I’m Heather (she/her), a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Omaha, Nebraska. My path to therapy was winding, including law school, teaching, a career as a professor of English, and working with students from toddlers through college. I’ve always been interested in people’s stories—the ones we inherit, the ones we tell ourselves, and the ones we’re still learning how to name.
My path to becoming a therapist also became deeply personal during my own fertility journey. I experienced firsthand how isolating difficult chapters of life can feel, and how profoundly different it is when someone is willing to sit beside you in uncertainty—to listen without trying to fix, and to make room for grief and hope to coexist. That experience shaped the therapist I wanted to become.
I believe much of healing happens in relationship. We need places where we can tell the truth about our lives and have someone meet that truth with compassion and curiosity. We also need space to reconnect with a quieter longing: for more connection, creativity, freedom, joy, and a sense that we are truly inhabiting our lives.
My work is warm, collaborative, and deeply client-centered. I draw from Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailoring our work to your individual needs.
I work with adults, individuals, and couples navigating attachment wounds, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship struggles, body image concerns, and life transitions. I have a particular passion for supporting people experiencing infertility and alternative paths to building a family, as well as exploring matrescence and Mother Hunger. I also have a special fondness for working with artists and creative people, whether or not you formally consider yourself an artist.
I want therapy to be a place where you don’t have to perform wellness. You can bring the grief, anger, uncertainty, relationship struggles, exhaustion, or dreams you’re afraid to name. Together, we can create enough safety and curiosity to listen to all of those parts.
Maybe you’re looking for relief. Maybe you’re navigating a transition or wondering who you’re becoming. Maybe you’ve spent so much time caring for others that you’ve lost touch with yourself. Or maybe a quiet part of you is asking: Is there more life available to me?
I believe there is. And you don’t have to know how to find it before you begin. We can listen for it together.
I offer in-person therapy in Omaha and telehealth throughout Nebraska. Wherever we meet, I want our time together to feel like a place where you can slow down, be honest, and explore what matters—with compassion, curiosity, and another person beside you. I’m glad you’re here. If something in these words feels familiar, I’d be honored to meet you.
